Course description

The program focuses on M&A as a way to achieve a company's strategic aims, e.g., boosting growth, reach, and efficiency, and acquiring new capabilities. It also provides a solid foundation for divestment and other separation activities. The program does not cover topics related to purchasing companies for an investment purpose.

The program is for those who lead or contribute to any phase of corporate M&A projects. The program provides you with a big picture of the entire M&A process, starting from the M&A strategy and deal phase to the post-merger integration and leading change. You will understand how different stages of the process are connected to the outcome of the entire project.

You learn to understand all the main phases more deeply through research-based concepts, real-life cases and examples, and practical tools and approaches. You will also learn to recognize essential opportunities and typical stumbling blocks in each phase. The program will significantly increase your impact on an M&A project, and you will be more capable of leading or contributing to an M&A project stream successfully.

There are five program days divided into two training sessions; the learning methods are collaborative and interactive with group work and exercises. In addition to our world-class faculty, there are visiting speakers from industry and M&A advisory firms. Pre-readings are provided before each training session.

9 ECTS credits can be transferred from the Mergers and Acquisitions program to the Aalto Executive MBA or Aalto MBA program.

Teaching takes place at Aalto EE's premises in Helsinki.
