Course description

The Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) is a high-level certification for investment and finance professionals and is accredited in 27 European countries. The CEFA qualification is a highly respected certification for investment analysis skills. The CEFA program provides a coherent and high standard training for financial professionals who want to develop and maintain their analytical skills.

The CEFA training covers ten key topic areas for the profession: financial accounting and financial statement analysis, equity valuation and analysis, corporate finance, fixed income valuation and analysis, economics, derivative valuation and analysis, portfolio management, European and national regulations, and ethics.

The quality of CEFA certification is controlled by the European Association of Financial Analysts (EFFAS), and the program is organized in Finland by the Finnish Association of Financial Analysts in cooperation with Aalto University Executive Education Ltd. CEFA programs have been organized in Finland for over 20 years, and to date more than 400 professionals have become CEFA holders.

The CEFA program consists of four modules with a total of nine training days. Modules 1–3 include pre-reading materials, three days of training, and independent study. The final fourth module is implemented entirely as self-study. Each module culminates in a CEFA exam, the approved completion of which leads to certification.

With the CEFA program, you deepen and renew your professional skills. The training gives you a comprehensive picture of the dependencies in the financial sector, and competence to do demanding analytical work. You will also learn about new theory and practice combining tools for financial industry that help you strengthen the quality of your work. During the training days, you will network and exchange views with experienced financial professionals as well as other participants. At the end of the program and after the successful completion of the exams, you will earn the right to use the CEFA title.

The program can be completed in a year. It includes a total of nine contact teaching days, four exams, and an estimated 230 hours of self-study. Successful completion of the CEFA program will earn you 13.5 ECTS study credits, which can be transferred to the Aalto Executive MBA or Aalto MBA program.

Teaching takes place at Aalto EE's premises in Helsinki.
