Course description

The venture capital and private equity sector has been growing strongly in recent years, and rightly so, as according to studies, the turnover of companies owned by Finnish private equity investors is growing six times, and personnel growth as much as 15 times, faster than that of comparable companies.

The Venture Capital & Private Equity program enhances success in investments, increasing expertise in key themes related to venture capital. The program brings together the key information needed for venture capital investment to enable the investor to bring all possible added value in addition to financing.

The program helps you to understand the importance of venture capital investment and the investor at different stages of business operations. During the program, you will outline how venture capital activities are managed in a controlled manner and understand how the funds operate. You will learn to organize proper management and reporting related to your operations, to value and structure your venture capital investment, and to deepen your knowledge of the regulation and taxation of venture capital investment. In addition, the program is an excellent way to strengthen your network of experts in the field.

During the Venture Capital & Private Equity program, the structure and operation of private equity investments, different types of investors, the private equity investment process, and value creation are reviewed. In addition, attention will be paid to the structure, collection, and management of private equity funds, as well as to more detailed consultation on regulations, reporting requirements, taxation, and money laundering aspects related to venture capital investment.

The program includes three contact days as well as an independent online course. Contact days consist of lectures by Aalto University professors from the field of venture capital and talks by experienced professionals. During the program days, you will also work with an exercise case to deepen your knowledge of valuation and structuring. Expertise and experience are exchanged in joint discussions and reflection tasks in small groups.

The total workload of the program is approximately 3.5 days: half a day of pre-reading and preparation and three days of training. In addition, you will complete an online course with a recommended completion schedule of 2-3 hours per week for 3-4 weeks.

The program is held in Finnish.

Teaching takes place at Aalto ENT's premises in Helsinki.
