Course description

The application period for the Radical Creativity course summer 2023 starts in February. Please note that the course dates are still preliminary and subject to change.

Change is accelerating, and we need flexibility and the capacity to constantly learn new skills and approaches. Creative work skills and multidisciplinary problem-solving have become important competencies to foresee and tackle future scenarios. The Radical Creativity summer course is Aalto University’s brand new offer to students at the graduate level. In this course, students will actively reframe problems, question conventions, and seek novel approaches to complex challenges.

During the two intensive weeks, students explore radical creativity through multidisciplinary teamwork on real-life company cases. Using both hands-on and theoretical approaches gives them an opportunity to generate tangible impact. The course presents opportunities to experience and experiment with systemic approaches to radical creativity. We aim to foster learning journeys that encompass insightful discussions, multidisciplinary collaboration and ways to engage with pressing challenges at the organizational and professional level.

In this course, we want to create a culture of radical creativity through experimentation, piloting and imagination. The course encourages diversity, risk-taking and critical questioning when addressing unexpected situations and complex societal challenges. Students are guided in active introspection on what radical creativity means for each participant, based on their skill sets, backgrounds, and mindsets toward working life and societal impact.
