This online course is for business leaders and executives who want to start their innovation leadership journey and start exploring innovations through Lean start-up tools and practices.

Course description

Nowadays, corporates and large organizations are being disrupted by small, agile, nimble players in the market. However, many corporates have decided that instead of competing with these small but innovative players, they will embrace these agile and entrepreneurial start-up practices to transform their leadership culture and empower their people.

The key frameworks that underlie the content of this online course are Lean start-up practices, causation vs. effectuation, customer development, and agile development. The main objective is to encourage and inspire you to explore and venture into innovation in a new way, and ultimately, through adopting these practices, to guide your organization towards an innovation leadership transformation.

After completing this online course, you will be able to identify the different change processes employed by start-ups. You will reflect on how you can adopt an innovation leadership mindset, and you will easily select the tools and frameworks that help you promote change within your organization.

The primary pedagogical approach used to create this online course is experiential learning, commonly known as "learning by doing." That is why this course is not like a conventional online program. Rather than following a set template and doing the calculus, the content delivery emphasizes exercises and methods that allow you to practice the concepts discussed through experiment.

The first module opens with "Why Start-ups?". You will understand why start-ups are so innovative and why they are so prominent in current times. The second module is about Lean start-up tools and practices. You will understand the main differences in how innovators, entrepreneurs, and large corporates explore new ideas. The third module offers you a clear understanding of how you can contextualize these tools, methodologies, and practices to the context of large organizations.

In the final module, you will summarize the themes, concepts, essential tools, and methodologies covered by the course, which you can take for implementation in your organization.

The program length is about 4 to 5 weeks, following the recommended schedule of 2 to 3 hours per week. Each module will take you approximately 2 hours to complete if you do all the daily challenges and the required extra activities conducted outside the course platform.
