Form of learning:
The application period for the summer course Game Design starts in February. Please note that course information is subject to change.
The future of games is already here. While gaming becomes an all the more immersive experience, the boundaries of games and reality start to blur. A growing number of actors promote inclusiveness in the industry, meaning that designers and developers from various backgrounds are more in demand than ever.
The game design course is a glimpse into how games are taught at Aalto University. The multidisciplinary course brings together the technical and artistic aspects of game design and allows students to experiment with their own ideas. In addition to the in-class prototyping and lectures, visitors from the gaming industry illuminate how games are developed in practice and introduce the different roles involved in the process.
The course is open to any student interested in the topic, and no previous experience in game design or programming is required. By taking this course, you will learn to harness the power of games, prototyping skills and different approaches to the game design process.
