Course description

As digital technologies and platforms increase in B2B and B2C, many of the familiar ways of organizing business are changing in unprecedented ways. New business models are called for. The place where innovation activities take place, how they are organized, the actors, and the practices are all in flux. Artificial intelligence is a focal tool as it can be employed at many stages when building and exploiting a platform. This program brings you the latest developments from both business and academia.

Our approach is very hands-on. You will work on your business challenge throughout the program while choosing how much you wish to share with your peers. 

Module one provides you with a solid conceptual background in creating and sharing value with digital platforms. It provides an introduction to digital platform design focusing on value creation and sharing perspectives. The module gives you a holistic view of platform business models. You will be able to see through common thinking biases in platform design and thereby better analyze your business case from a platform perspective. You will also learn a concrete approach for evaluating the degree of friction in your current offering.

Module two focuses on how leaders can design value-creating ecosystems. The module draws on theories in strategic management that focus on the creation of novel strategies. The focus will be on the generation of a wide variety of strategic options.

In the third module, you will learn to harness the tech. You identify essential value-creating elements in your current offering and how to maximize the benefits from those elements. You will generate a wide variety of strategic options for your ecosystem and evaluate your value creation potential. We focus on how you can and should leverage technology to build a successful platform. Cutting-edge technologies are essential because they enable exponentially more effective operations and development. You will learn effects that are the foundation for building a successful platform that constantly engages more users and creates increasing value through network effects.

The fourth module focuses on further refining your platform designs with mentored individual and peer-to-peer work. After this session, participants can have an individual coaching session for themselves and their team with the instructor.

Module five is about making it all happen and how to drive optimization with principles of AI-based organizing. Finally, you learn to use analytics to customize your change approach and work through resistance when turning fear into energy in your pursuit of transformation.

The program comprises 5 x 0.5 days of Live Online training with instructors, plus a scheduled instructor consulting session with your company team. Depending on your level of ambition, prepare to spend at least ten hours advancing your project.

The program runs fully online.
